Reports from Spain and Italy suggest that the Portuguese ace has discussed this issue with recently-appointed coach Andrea Pirlo
Cristiano Ronaldo has gone from allegedly trying to force his exit from Juventus to suggesting reinforcements to the new coach.
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese ace has contacted coach Andrea Pirlo to discuss the team’s future, including potential transfers. The Italian newspaper states that CR7 and Pirlo have talked on the phone two times, and the former Real Madrid has asked the team’s new tactician to try and sign one of his former team-mates at Real Madrid: Karim Benzema.
The bianconeri are reportedly interested in signing a striker before the start of the 2020-21 season, with Alexandre Lacazette, Arkadiusz Milik and Raúl Jiménez as the team’s top options. Nevertheless, CR7 believes Benzema would be a good fit for the job, especially because both of them had a great run together while playing at the Spanish capital.
A possible move involving Benzema seems far-fetched at this point, mainly because the French striker is instrumental to Zinedine Zidane’s scheme. Furthermore, the COVID-19 crisis has taken a massive toll on Real Madrid, who would have a hard time in finding a suitable replacement for their top scorer. Even so, the good relationship between both teams could make the impossible possible for the right amount of money.
